Bed Wetting Solutions

An embarrassing stage of growing up as a child can be bed wetting. Around fifteen percent of kids between ages 5 and 10 wet the bed at night with barely 5 percent of those continue to be bed wetters after age ten. The situation is two times as prevalent in boys as in girls but can happen to just about any child. You must keep in mind that bed wetting solutions are not discovered by making your kid feel bad or assuming the problem is due to some sort of character flaw. Actually, bed wetting tends to run in families with 75% of bed wetters having sibling who also wet the bed or parent who were bed wetters when they were children.

The true damage that bed wetting causes is to your kid's sense of self worth. Thinking that their classmates don’t have, (or would obviously never talk about) this condition and the fear of other children learning about their secret can cause lowered confidence and feelings that it is all their fault. It is important to be sympathetic as you try bed wetting solutions because a child will imagine that any negative actions or moods from you signal that you are angry with them.

Some simple methods to start eliminating bed wetting is to make the kid go to the toilet right before bed time, even if a child says they don't feel like peeing. Not permitting the child have any drinks 2 hours before bedtime will also lower the quantity of urine in their bladder during the night. Some parents and kids feel that training pants are useful because, although the goal is to not pee while sleeping in the first place, on the nights that it occurs the training pants easily clean up the accident.

New bed wetting solutions, that weren’t around when most parents were children themselves, include alarms. There are many alarms on the market but the essential design is that an alarm goes off as soon as it detects moisture. This awakens a child the moment the first drop of urine is released so that they are able to stop themselves and get to the toilet right away. Alarms are an extremely successful tool for most kids.

For some parents and children, waking up once or twice every night where the child has to get out of the bed to use the toilet works. This shifts the objective from getting through a whole night dry and makes the child concentrate on doing things during the night to prevent wetting their bed.

As previously mentioned, all of these strategies will be ineffective if your kid's state of mind is not considered part of the solution. If bed wetting was a situation for you as a child, share your memories and experiences with your child. Be certain that your kid understands that, for example, in their class of 20 kids there is in all likelihood 4 to 5 children who are also bed wetters so that your kid knows they are not alone.

Most children will cease bed wetting with time but trying to resolve the problem early on saves you the parent a lot of sleep and permits your kid to feel more self-assured and free. Not all techniques work on all kids, you will most likely have to use trial and error to find something that fits your kid's own special needs.
